e-Proxemis Navigation
The entry point within e-Proxemis depends upon the aim of the user: a theoretical lesson about a bioinformatics resource, problem solving, in-depth learning, training, etc. ... Whatever the entry point, the user is guided along logical and adequate navigation through theoretical sections, real examples or practice.

At the bottom of many pages within e-Proxemis (see above), further resources are suggested that are connected to the item currently under scrutiny. Scientists have the option of following their original path of enquiry or navigating via the suggested resources in order to focus on a specific theme. There is no "right" path; the route is dependent upon the needs and requirements of the scientist using e-Proxemis.
e-Proxemis Content
e-Proxemis covers an impressive array of resources (databases and tools) and is designed to be easily updated and enriched, allowing scientists to gain continuous access to the latest information available. The content of e-Proxemis is divided into the following four sections.
1. Resources
Numerous bioinformatics resources are presented and taught using examples. They are succinctly or intensively described, depending on their relevance and/or frequency of use. The resources are split between databases and tools and grouped into categories, more or less fitting the major themes of bioinformatics.

2. Case Studies
A case study depicts a stepwise strategy for searching information in order to solve a real problem, using the different resources described above. The library of case studies is the core component of e-Proxemis because it aims to approximate some difficult cases you may encounter in your research. The library can be searched with various criteria:
- Complete list: Sort by alphabetical order, modification order or creation order
- Filter by biological viewpoint: Choose a viewpoint in a pre-defined list
- Filter by resource: Choose a resource in a pre-defined list
- Filter by species
- Filter by keyword

3. Scenarios
A scenario is a series of case studies, reflecting real life examples of what scientists encounter in their research. An underlying piece of reasoning allowing the chaining together of case studies is explained.

4. Practice
e-Proxemis is meant to be a very hands-on and reality-based training platform, in order to encourage the development of examples encountered in real life research. On the one hand, a series of quizzes helps the user to situate their skill in each domain of bioinformatics, and on the other hand a series of exercises of various levels applies what has been learned in resources or cases.

Additional Resources
In addition to the core content, e-Proxemis offers:
- A "News" section containing major changes or additions to the platform as well as scientific news
- A "Personal Space" to bookmark parts of the content and the resources for future study, to retrieve past consultations and to update personal information
- A "Basics" section containing a glossary and various workflows in Proteomics
